General Requirements for Eligibility
To obtain an Employment Based Green Card US employers may sponsor nonimmigrant foreign nationals who will perform services in a specialty occupation; services relating to a Department of Defense project; or in the field of fashion modeling.
The specialty occupation must require at least a bachelor’s degree or its equivalent, and application of specialized knowledge. This application generally requires from the employer a labor certification (LC) and an offer of employment letter, with exemption applying to EB-1 visa applicants and those EB-2 applicants who qualify for a National Interest Waiver (NIW). Applicants are grouped into "preference" rankings as follows:

A EB Green Card holder may live anywhere in the US and work for any company, in any capacity. In addition, he may sponsor green cards for his relatives. Later, he may become a naturalized US citizen after staying in the US for more than 5 years as a permanent resident.
